Cebu Pacific renews IATA operational safety audit (IOSA) registry

Cebu Pacific, the Philippines’ leading carrier, announced the successful renewal of its IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) registry. This achievement reaffirms the airline’s unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards as it undergoes significant growth and expansion.

This renewal marks a significant milestone as it is CEB’s first under the more stringent Risk-Based IOSA framework, a data-driven approach introduced by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to enhance the assessment of airline safety. Cebu Pacific first achieved its IOSA registration in 2018 and has consistently passed the biennial audit ever since, demonstrating a continuous dedication to operational excellence.

“The IOSA renewal reflects the strength of our internal safety processes and the culture of excellence we uphold in our operations,” said Javier Massot, CEB Chief Operations Officer. “Safety has always been at the core of what we do, and we are proud to meet global benchmarks as we continue to expand our network.”

Cebu Pacific’s robust safety performance has garnered global recognition. In June, AirlineRatings.com named the airline one of the world’s Safest Low-Cost Carriers (LCCs), highlighting its strong safety record, consistently low incident rate, and strategic investment in a modern fleet.

The renewed safety certification comes at a pivotal time for CEB as it continues to modernize its fleet. In 2024, the airline solidified its future by signing a landmark purchase agreement with Airbus for up to 152 A320neo aircraft, representing the largest order in Philippine aviation history. This strategic move underscores CEB’s commitment to transitioning to an all-NEO fleet, focusing on enhanced fuel efficiency and sustainability.

To meet the escalating travel demand, Cebu Pacific is also aggressively expanding its network. Last year alone, the airline launched 28 new routes, comprising 19 domestic and 9 international destinations. As of April 2025, it has further bolstered its international roster with new flights including Cebu–Ho Chi Minh, Iloilo–Bangkok (Don Mueang), and Manila–Sapporo.

CEB aims to transport 30 million passengers by the end of 2025, a target driven by its ongoing network expansion, strategic hub development, and increased seat capacity. The airline currently boasts the widest network in the Philippines, serving 37 domestic and 26 international destinations across Asia, Australia, and the Middle East.
