PAL inaugurates direct flights between Manila and Da Nang, Vietnam

Philippine Airlines (PAL), the country’s flag carrier, today officially launched its highly anticipated direct service between Manila and Da Nang, Vietnam, marking a significant expansion of its international network. Flight PR 585 departed Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 at 11:10 AM, carrying passengers eager to explore Central Vietnam’s vibrant offerings.

The new route initially operates thrice weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, with an early morning departure from Manila designed to maximize travelers’ time in Da Nang. PAL plans to increase the frequency to four weekly flights by November 2025, further enhancing connectivity.

A celebratory send-off ceremony at NAIA Terminal 1 was attended by various local officials and aviation stakeholders, underscoring the importance of this new air link.

“We at Philippine Airlines are proud to celebrate our inaugural service linking Manila and Da Nang,” stated PAL President Richard Nuttall. “As we welcome Da Nang to our global network, we affirm that PAL now serves three destinations in Vietnam, more than in any other ASEAN country, and that speaks of the solid bond of friendship that unites the Filipino and Vietnamese people. We look forward to flying travelers to the gateway of Central Vietnam.”

His Excellency Lai Thai Binh, Ambassador of Vietnam to the Philippines, emphasized the broader impact of the new connection: “This flight is more than a connection between two cities; it’s a bridge between our people, cultures, and shared dreams. This is particularly significant as both countries prepare to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam-Philippines Strategic Partnership in 2025 and the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Philippines diplomatic relations in 2026 (coinciding with the Philippines’ ASEAN Chairmanship).”

Shahlimar Hofer Tamano, Department of Tourism (DOT) Chief of Staff and Undersecretary for Tourism Regulation Coordination & Resource Generation, highlighted the growing demand for such direct links. “As Vietnam continues to rise as one of the most visited destinations by Filipino travelers, and as the Philippines also welcomes more visitors from Vietnam, this direct connection responds to the growing demand for accessible and enriching tourism experience.”

Da Nang is rapidly gaining recognition as a premier holiday destination, celebrated for its diverse tourism offerings, a thriving food and cafe scene, rich cultural experiences, scenic views, and convenient access to multiple UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

With the addition of Da Nang, PAL now operates a total of 24 weekly nonstop flights to Vietnam, serving Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Hanoi, and Da Nang. This includes three weekly flights connecting Cebu directly to Ho Chi Minh City.

For the Manila-Da Nang service, Philippine Airlines is deploying its modern Airbus A321 jetliners, configured to accommodate up to 199 passengers with options for both Business Class and Economy Class service.
