Starhorse Shipping Lines vessel involved in collision off Port of Lucena

Starhorse Shipping Lines confirms that its vessel, VDPF 6, was involved in a minor collision with the fishing vessel FV SR Fernando off the coast of the Port of Lucena on July 3, 2025, at approximately 7:12 AM.

The incident occurred shortly after VDPF 6, carrying 26 vehicles and 82 passengers, departed the Port of Lucena en route to the Port of Balanacan. As the vessel was clearing the breakwater of the Port of Lucena, it made contact with FV SR Fernando, which was approaching the adjacent fishport.

Immediately following the incident, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) CGS Lucena promptly directed VDPF 6 to return to the Port of Lucena, where all passengers were safely disembarked. Starhorse Shipping Lines is relieved to report that there were no injuries or fatalities among the passengers or crew of either vessel.

Several hours later, at approximately 12:25 PM, all 82 passengers were successfully transferred to another Starhorse Shipping Lines vessel, SSLI VPDF 9, which then proceeded with its scheduled voyage to the Port of Balanacan.

Starhorse Shipping Lines is fully cooperating with the Philippine Coast Guard as they conduct their investigation into the incident to determine the cause and take appropriate legal action. The safety and well-being of our passengers and crew remain our utmost priority.
