The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) commenced its 51st Founding Anniversary today, embarking on a week-long celebration themed “Sustaining the Legacy, Strengthening the Nation.” The festivities underscore the PPA’s enduring commitment to nation-building and excellence in service, marking over five decades of guiding the country’s port operations toward growth and global competitiveness.
The anniversary officially launched with a Flag Raising Ceremony at the PPA Head Office in Manila, led by PPA General Manager Jay Santiago. “This milestone is more than just a number—it is a testament to over five decades of commitment, innovation, and nation-building through efficient and inclusive port management,” said GM Santiago in his opening address. He extended his gratitude to port managers from various Port Management Offices (PMOs), department managers, and all who contributed to the celebration.
The morning program began with a doxology by the Manila Science High School Chorale, followed by the grand opening of the Anniversary Bazaar, featuring products from various merchants and PMOs. The event also included a lively intermission performance by Pepe A Mascot and a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by GM Santiago, accompanied by Assistant General Manager for Operations Mark Palomar, Assistant General Manager for Engineering James Gantalao, Assistant General Manager for Finance, Legal, and Administration Elmer Nonnatus Cadano, and Special Assistant to the Corporate Head II Eric Dimaculangan. The morning concluded with a celebratory serenade.
