Teachers and students from two remote schools in Zamboanga del Norte have extended their heartfelt gratitude to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for providing them with satellite-powered internet connectivity, a tool they say has bridged the digital divide and opened up a world of possibilities.
The Seroan Integrated School in Barangay Seroan, Katipunan, and Marupay National High School in Barangay Marupay, President Manuel A. Roxas municipality, are the latest beneficiaries of President Marcos’s initiative to bring internet access to schools across the country.
In a video message brimming with excitement, teachers and students from Seroan Integrated School exclaimed, “Marami pong salamat sa inyo, President Bongbong Marcos, para po sa inyong handog sa amin na smart classroom interactive board at satellite internet connection! Yehey!” (Thank you very much, President Bongbong Marcos, for your gift of a smart classroom interactive board and satellite internet connection! Hooray!)
Teachers and students from Marupay National High School also conveyed their appreciation through a separate video message to the President.
On Friday, government representatives and technicians delivered and installed Starlink satellite internet units and Huawei Idea Hub interactive boards at both schools.
Jessan Macam, head teacher at Seroan Integrated School, highlighted the immediate impact of the new connectivity. “We are grateful, as are our teachers and fellow citizens here. We will be able to use this at all times when an internet connection is needed,” Macam said in a video message to the President. She added that the satellite internet will enable teachers to promptly submit reports to higher offices and receive official issuances from the school’s division office, streamlining crucial administrative tasks.
Teachers at Marupay National High School received an orientation on how to effectively use the new Huawei Idea Hub smart interaction board, ensuring they can maximize the benefits of the new technology in their classrooms.
President Marcos Jr. has stated his administration’s commitment to connecting all schools in the Philippines to the internet by the end of the year, a goal that these installations are bringing closer to reality for even the most isolated communities.
