The Department of Transportation (DOTr) today announced a significant milestone in public service, confirming the complete elimination of the 11-year backlog in motorcycle plate production and distribution. Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon made the announcement, highlighting the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s commitment to resolving long-standing issues affecting Filipino motorists.
“Finally, under the administration of President Bongbong Marcos and after 11 years, we have wiped out the backlog in motorcycle plates,” Secretary Dizon stated during a media briefing. “This year, we have now produced 5.4 million MC plates, which effectively eliminates the backlog.”
The extensive backlog, which had accumulated since 2014, presented a persistent challenge for motorcycle owners across the country. President Marcos Jr. had previously directed the DOTr and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to prioritize and expedite the production and distribution of these essential plates.
Secretary Dizon confirmed that the 5.4 million newly produced motorcycle plates are currently being distributed to LTO district offices nationwide, ensuring they reach their rightful owners promptly. “The plates have been produced. Right now, those plates are being distributed to LTO district offices,” he added.
In a related development aimed at enhancing transparency and convenience for motorists, the LTO has launched a new online platform, ltotracker.com. This website allows motorists to monitor the status of their motorcycle plates, indicating whether they are available for delivery or ready for pick-up at their respective LTO district offices.
The successful elimination of the motorcycle plate backlog underscores the government’s dedication to improving public services and addressing the needs of the motoring public.
