President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered to accelerate the construction of the Valenzuela to Camp Aguinaldo segment Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP) so that it can be immediately used by commuters, reduce traffic and ease travel.
In a statement: “I hope we can finish this until Valenzuela by 2028. Maybe we can inaugurate it,” President Marcos said during his inspection of the Camp Aguinaldo Station of the subway.
“Everyone agrees that it needs to be accelerated so that their commute will be more convenient,” he added.
President Marcos also thanked the Japanese government for its help in the construction of the Metro Manila Subway.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) will cooperate with the subway contractor to finish its construction immediately in response to the President’s directive, according to Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon.
“As the President said, it is a great relief for commuters to have this segment operational so that we can at least alleviate the difficulty of their daily commute. We will work with the contractor to accelerate construction,” the secretary said.
Once operational, the Metro Manila Subway will shorten the trip from Valenzuela City from an hour and a half to 45 minutes. It’s expected that 519,000 passengers will benefit from it every day.
