In its website post, Airspeed said that adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) is part of its comprehensive sustainability roadmap. By replacing fossil-fueled delivery vehicles with EVs—particularly in high-density urban areas like Metro Manila—Airspeed is actively cutting down on greenhouse gas emissions and fuel costs. This transition results in a win-win scenario for the environment and business growth.
It noted that logistics and transportation sectors are responsible for over 12 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions, with road transport being a significant contributor. Adopting electric delivery vehicles is critical in reducing these emissions and building a cleaner supply chain.
Compared to traditional diesel-powered trucks, electric vehicles produce zero tailpipe emissions; operate more quietly, improving urban delivery experiences; and require less maintenance and are more cost-efficient over time.
Airspeed’s initiative to shift to EVs positions it as a pioneer in eco-conscious logistics in the Philippines.
Beyond its EV investment, Airspeed continues to roll out a series of environmentally responsible programs to support its long-term sustainability goals, such as smart energy facilities by retrofitting warehouses and offices with energy-efficient lighting, HVAC, and water systems.
It is also transitioning to sustainable package where 75 percent of bubble wrap materials to shredded carton alternatives, significantly reducing plastic use.
Airspeed is also actively supporting local environmental projects such as coastal cleanups and tree-planting drives.
Its solar-powered infrastructure is on track to power all facilities with solar energy by 2026, enhancing energy independence and reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
These initiatives reflect Airspeed’s active participation in the Environmental Protection and Rehabilitation (EPR) program under PARM, Inc., strengthening its role as a socially and environmentally responsible company.
As the logistics industry faces mounting pressure to innovate and lower emissions, Airspeed said its actions serve as a model for others to follow.
