Pres. Marcos Jr. drives national progress through hands-on leadership

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. continues to demonstrate a robust and direct approach to national development, actively overseeing a wide array of government initiatives aimed at significantly improving the lives of Filipinos. From critical infrastructure and transportation enhancements to bolstering energy security, expanding housing opportunities, and advancing digital public services, the President’s hands-on leadership ensures tangible progress for communities nationwide.

This week, President Marcos Jr. underscored his administration’s commitment to modernization and inclusive growth through several high-profile engagements:

On July 14, President Marcos led the groundbreaking ceremony for the new passenger terminal building at the Godofredo P. Ramos Airport in Caticlan, Malay, Aklan. This pivotal project marks a significant stride in modernizing the country’s air transport infrastructure and is expected to further spur tourism-led regional development, enhancing connectivity and economic opportunities in the Visayas region. Following the Caticlan event, the President conducted an aerial inspection of the Malampaya oil and gas platform off the coast of Palawan. This inspection highlighted the ongoing Malampaya Phase 4 (MP4) project, which involves drilling three new deep-water wells to secure a new gas supply by 2026, crucial for the nation’s energy independence and stability.

Continuing his focus on public welfare, on July 16, President Marcos spearheaded the launch of the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) 50 percent discount for senior citizens and persons with disability (PWDs) on LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3. This substantial discount took effect immediately, providing much-needed relief and increased accessibility for vulnerable sectors. The President personally led the inaugural trip of the newly commissioned Dalian trains at the Santolan-Annapolis MRT station, expressing satisfaction that these trains are now finally in service, promising improved efficiency for commuters. From there, President Marcos proceeded to inspect a portion of the ambitious Metro Manila Subway project at the Camp Aguinaldo Station. While the entire subway will eventually connect Valenzuela City to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay City, the President expressed optimism for the completion of the Valenzuela to Camp Aguinaldo segment by 2028.

In line with the administration’s comprehensive mass housing program, Malacañang announced that approximately 5,000 informal settlers are set to gain land ownership through the revival of 34 on-site housing projects. The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) approved the proposal by the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) to reactivate the Community Mortgage Program (CMP) in these initial sites across Luzon and Visayas, signifying a major step towards addressing housing needs and promoting dignified living conditions.

Further demonstrating his vision for a modern and efficient government, on July 18, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. officially launched the Bagong Pilipinas eGovPH Serbisyo Hub and the eGovPH Super App. Unveiled in Pinaglabanan, San Juan, the Bagong Pilipinas eGovPH Serbisyo Hub (BPESH) is designed as a transformative one-stop shop, integrating the services of approximately 70 government agencies. This initiative is a cornerstone of the administration’s digital transformation agenda, aiming to streamline the delivery of essential public assistance and make government transactions significantly more accessible, efficient, and citizen-friendly for all Filipinos.

“Our commitment is to deliver tangible improvements that directly benefit every Filipino family,” President Marcos Jr. stated. “By personally overseeing these critical projects, we ensure that our efforts translate into better infrastructure, more accessible services, secure energy, and dignified homes. This is the essence of Bagong Pilipinas – a nation where progress is felt by everyone, everywhere.”

The President’s consistent engagement across these vital sectors underscores his administration’s holistic approach to national development, focusing on impactful projects that lay the groundwork for a more prosperous and resilient Philippines.
