Senior officials from the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) recently conducted a crucial visit to the Migrant Workers Office in Qatar, engaging directly with Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who are facing unresolved cases. The visit underscores the Philippine government’s unwavering commitment to the welfare and protection of its nationals abroad.
Undersecretary Jainal T. Rasul Jr., Assistant Secretary Venecio V. Legazpi, and Labor Attaché Eduard Ferrer led the delegation, holding a productive dialogue with distressed OFWs. During the meeting, Undersecretary Rasul personally assured the affected workers that the Philippine government is vigorously pursuing all available legal and diplomatic avenues to expedite the resolution of their cases.
“The Philippine government stands firmly behind our distressed OFWs,” stated Undersecretary Rasul. “We are committed to exhausting every possible legal and diplomatic channel to ensure their cases are resolved swiftly and justly. Their well-being is our top priority.”
In a tangible demonstration of support, Undersecretary Rasul also extended financial assistance to the OFWs on behalf of the Philippine government, providing immediate relief to those in need. This initiative highlights the DMW’s comprehensive approach to assisting OFWs, combining diplomatic efforts with direct welfare services.
The visit to the Migrant Workers Office in Qatar is part of the DMW’s ongoing efforts to monitor the situation of OFWs globally and to provide timely and effective assistance to those requiring intervention. The Department remains dedicated to safeguarding the rights and promoting the welfare of all Filipino migrant workers.
