First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, accompanied by Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) General Manager Melquiades A. Robles and Ambassador Markus V. Lacanilao, Special Envoy on Transnational Crime, visited the Philippine National Police (PNP) Command Center today.
They were welcomed by PNP Chief, Police General Nicolas D. Torre III, who provided a comprehensive tour of the facility. General Torre personally demonstrated the functionality of the PNP’s 911 emergency response system, highlighting its efficiency and organization. He specifically showcased the PNP’s ambitious 911/5MRT (5-Minute Response Time) initiative, which aims for a five-minute response to all emergency calls.
Both the First Lady and PCSO General Manager Robles expressed their clear admiration for the system’s speed and coordination. Recognizing the critical role this plays in saving lives and ensuring community safety, they committed their support to the program. The PCSO, in particular, pledged to donate additional equipment and resources to bolster the PNP’s emergency response capabilities nationwide.
This visit underscores a strengthening of inter-agency cooperation and a shared dedication to public safety. It aligns directly with the administration’s vision for a “Bagong Pilipinas” (New Philippines), advocating for a safer, faster, and more service-oriented government.
