Robinsons Retail Holdings, Inc. (RRHI) announced a strong performance for the second quarter of 2025, with core earnings climbing 3.9% year-on-year to Php1.5 billion. This growth was fueled by robust revenue expansion and significant improvements in operating efficiencies. For the first semester of 2025, core earnings reached Php2.8 billion, a 4.3% increase from the previous year.
Consolidated net sales for the second quarter jumped 5.9% to Php50.7 billion, underpinned by a blended same-store sales growth (SSSG) of 4.8%. This notable increase was boosted by election-related and back-to-school spending, coupled with slower inflation that positively impacted consumer spending across both essential and discretionary categories. Key business drivers for the quarter included the Food, Drugstore, and Department Store formats. For the first half of 2025, sales reached Php98.5 billion (+5.1% year-on-year) with a blended SSSG of 3.9%.
Operating income demonstrated an even more accelerated growth, rising 7.4% to Php2.4 billion in the second quarter. This improvement is attributed to prudent cost management, gross profit uplift from continued supplier support, enhanced product mix, and improved inventory management. For the first six months of the year, operating income totaled Php4.3 billion, up 5.2% from the prior year.
Net income attributable to equity holders of the parent company was Php1.5 billion in the second quarter, a 13.2% decrease, primarily due to higher equitized losses from minority investments and an uptick in interest expenses from increased borrowings. For the first half, attributable net income dipped to Php2.3 billion, mainly due to a one-time gain from the Bank of the Philippine Islands – Robinsons Bank merger booked in early 2024.
“The sustained recovery in basket sizes, along with our continued focus on improving assortment, has enabled us to accelerate growth and exceed our full-year SSSG target in the second quarter,” said Stanley Co, President and CEO of Robinsons Retail Holdings, Inc. “We intend to build on this momentum by further expanding our store network and driving operational efficiencies in the coming months.”
As of June 30, 2025, Robinsons Retail’s extensive network comprised 2,471 stores, including 763 Food Stores, 1,145 Drugstores, 51 Department Stores, 228 DIY Stores, and 284 Specialty Stores. The company also oversees 2,116 franchised TGP stores.
