The Singapore Maritime Foundation (SMF), in partnership with industry sponsors ARROW Asia, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), NorthStandard, and Ocean Network Express (ONE), has officially launched the sixth annual MaritimeONE Case Summit. This year’s competition invites university and polytechnic students across Singapore to tackle real-world challenges at the intersection of maritime, business, technology, and sustainability.
The annual case competition provides a unique platform for students to apply critical thinking and creativity to pressing issues facing the maritime industry. Teams of two to four students can choose from four challenge statements, each designed by a sponsor to address key areas like digitalization, decarbonization, and workforce development.
“The MaritimeONE Case Summit is a key platform for Singapore’s tertiary youths to apply critical thinking, creativity, and cross-disciplinary insights to address the complex challenges facing our industry today,” said Mr. Hor Weng Yew, Chairman, Singapore Maritime Foundation. “I thank our sponsors for their unwavering support in nurturing the next generation of maritime talent through meaningful, real-world problem statements.”
The four challenge statements are:
- ARROW Asia: Focuses on the future of shipbroking, encouraging students to develop innovative, tech-driven solutions that complement the human element of the industry.
- Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA): Challenges students to utilize a Maritime Digital Twin to create practical, scalable solutions for safer and more efficient port operations.
- NorthStandard: Tasks teams with exploring the potential for nuclear technology to transform the shipping industry, addressing emerging risks and shaping future frameworks.
- Ocean Network Express (ONE): Seeks strategies to build a future-ready maritime workforce to combat the critical talent shortage threatening the industry’s future.
Participating teams must register by the application deadline and submit a Proof-of-Concept. Finalist teams will be mentored by the sponsoring companies, culminating in the Grand Finals on November 14, 2025.
“By investing in young talent today, we are securing both our industry’s future and the efficient flow of global trade,” said Mr. Jeremy Nixon, Chief Executive Officer, Ocean Network Express.
