IATA and Chooose partner to expand access to verified aviation emissions data

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) and software company Chooose announced an agreement to expand market access to IATA CO2 Connect emissions data. Through this partnership, airlines using the Chooose platform will be able to provide their corporate and consumer customers with trusted, flight-specific emissions data based on real operational inputs from over 70 airlines.

The agreement comes as recent IATA research reveals that 40% of travelers, particularly those on business, regularly check their flight-related carbon emissions. By delivering IATA CO2 Connect data, Chooose will help its airline and corporate partners meet this growing demand for transparency and empower travelers to make more informed decisions. The IATA CO2 Connect data is aligned with the internationally recognized IATA RP 1726 and ISO 14083 standards.

“For years, Chooose has supported airlines, cargo, and travel companies with flexible access to emissions estimates,” said Joseph Beaudin, CEO of Chooose. “The addition of IATA CO2 Connect gives our partners access to an IATA dataset that continuously improves as more airlines report operational inputs and SAF usage.”

IATA CO2 Connect is the only carbon calculator for travel emissions based on airline operational data, and it can account for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)- related reductions. Chooose’s more than 30 global airline partners will now have the option to incorporate this data into their emissions calculations.

“IATA CO2 Connect is a key part of our strategy to make the most accurate information available as broadly as possible,” said Frederic Leger, IATA’s Senior Vice President Commercial Products & Services. “Working with Chooose is a key part of that strategy.”

Chooose is a member of the IATA Strategic Partnerships Program, contributing to the development of industry standards and decarbonization initiatives.
