Lemery cement silo taps state-of-art technology to produce quality products

Lemery Cement Silo Tank Corp. (LCSTC), a bulk cement and slag terminal with manufacturing and blending facilities, said it is now capable to supply  cement type 1, type 2 and blended cement in type 1P, 1S or 1T packed in 40kg or in tonner bags.

LCSTC a major component of the PHP5-billion Sinisian Lemery Batangas Port & Industrial Park (SLBPIP),  has pledged to provide the Philippine construction sector with alternative, high-quality cement and  concrete solutions that set it apart from the current local supply.

“We focus on the quality of our cement products that will distinguish us from the other cement supply,” said Ferdinand Co, president and CEO of Lemery Cement Silo Tank, during the inauguration of SLBPIP on August 1, 2025, attended by local officials of Batangas province.

Majority-owned by COHACO Merchandising and Development Corp., the cement silo facilities also  upply in bulk granulated ground blast furnace slag (GGBFS) or slag cement to various batching plants for their mixing process to produce concrete that is more eco-friendly, economical, durable, and higher-performing.

While GGBFS is a globally accepted standard in concrete mixing, this marks the first time the process is being applied in the Philippines—specifically at the Lemery Cement Silo Tank facility.

GGBFS is a by-product of steel production used as a supplementary cementitious material (SCM) in concrete. It is created by finely grinding granulated blast furnace slag, a glassy, granular material formed when molten slag from iron production is rapidly cooled. When incorporated into concrete, slag cement improves strength, durability, and sustainability.

This process ensures compressive strength that is approximately 40 percent higher than the Philippine Standard minimum after 28 days.

Co further emphasized that the quality of ECO-TIBAY Slag is derived from three key factors: the process by which the slag is abruptly cooled to preserve its glass content; the high quality of raw materials, which dictates the slag’s consistency and performance; and the grinding process that turns the granulated slag into a very fine powder.Co announced that Lemery Cement is now ready to supply UNO brand Portland

Cement Types I and II, as well as BARAKO brand Blended Portland Cement Types IP, IT, and IS.

Cement can be delivered in bulk, 40-kilogram sacks, and tonner bags, while slag cement is available in bulk and tonner bags.

The silo and terminal hub has a total capacity of approximately 2 million tons of cement and slag annually.

Moreover, Co highlighted that ECO-TIBAY Slag production is environmentally safe, as it significantly reduces CO₂ emissions.

Co added that the product offers excellent value for money, with savings of up to PHP400 per cubic  meter of concrete. “It is made in the Philippines,” he proudly said.

With its strategic location in Batangas, Co said the company is well-positioned to serve the CALABARZON region, as well as the Visayas and Mindanao.

“Local cement peoducers say that imported cement is bad. We are saying we are offering the market alternative products with higher quality for cement and GGBFS for concrete,” Co concluded.
