Pres. Marcos Jr. expresses disappointment over ineffective flood control projects in Bulacan

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon conducted a surprise inspection of several flood control projects in Calumpit, Bulacan, to personally assess the effectiveness of the government-funded initiatives. The President’s visit followed persistent reports of ongoing flooding that continues to plague local communities.

During the inspection, President Marcos observed that despite significant government investment, the projects have not provided the intended flood mitigation benefits for residents, particularly in the barangays of Bulusan and Frances. The President noted with concern that these projects have failed to alleviate the difficulties faced by the community.

“Our people deserve projects that work,” President Marcos stated. “These are massive infrastructure projects that were funded by the government to protect our citizens, and it is unacceptable that they are not serving their purpose.”

The President emphasized the need for accountability and transparency in all government-funded projects. He stressed that contractors must be held responsible for the quality and effectiveness of their work, especially when it directly impacts the safety and welfare of the public.

The administration is committed to investigating the matter and ensuring that future infrastructure projects are not only completed on time and within budget but also deliver their promised benefits to the Filipino people.
