DMW, TelePhilippines partner to empower returning OFWs

Overseas Filipino workers (OFW) who were victims of illegal recruitment and trafficking will be provided with training and employment support following the partnership between the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and TelePhilippines (TP), a business process outsourcing company specializing in digital business services.
Under the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), the DMW and TP agreed to collaborate in providing reintegration assistance to OFWs through training and upskilling programs to enhance their employability, supporting their productive and sustainable reintegration.
The partnership supports President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive of providing full-cycle and comprehensive reintegration support to OFWs and their families, and empowering them as co-architects of national development.
“With this agreement, we are creating a full-cycle, gender-responsive reintegration program that covers training, upskilling, and most importantly, fair and decent employment opportunities for our OFWs. Together, we will ensure that returning OFWs are not only welcome back home but also empowered with opportunities that match their skills, resilience, and aspirations,” said DMW Assistant Secretary Jerome A. Alcantara.
Under the agreement, the DMW shall collaborate with TP in delivering a gender-responsive, full-cycle reintegration program by endorsing eligible OFW beneficiaries for training and employment support. The DMW and TP shall explore joint support services for returning OFWs and their families, including conduct of job fairs, career caravans and AIRTIP awareness and fora to combat illegal recruitment and trafficking.
On the other hand, TP will provide free training or upskilling programs aligned with TP hiring standards, and shall also consider DMW-endorsed candidates for local employment opportunities.
TP also agreed to providing onboard support for hired beneficiaries while ensuring fair labor conditions and non-discrimination in employment.
“It’s quite a noble mission to reintegrate workers into the legal and productive workforce in the Philippines. TP team takes this MOA seriously and will also ensure that both of us can benefit— the returning OFWs can benefit from good and stable employment and at the same time, the DMW will see good career opportunities for returning OFWs,” said TP Chief People Officer Jeffry Johnson.
TP is a business process outsourcing company specialized in digital business services operating in the Philippines for 28 years with around 60,000 workforce.
