SM Megamall busway concourse and station construction underway to boost commuter access

The Department of Transportation (DOTr), in partnership with SM Prime Holdings, Inc., announced that the construction of the new busway concourse and station at SM Megamall is in progress. The project is a direct response to the President’s directive to enhance the public’s commuting experience by providing more convenient and accessible transportation infrastructure.

Once completed, the new facility will provide a seamless and weather-protected connection for commuters between the EDSA Busway and SM Megamall, easing the flow of pedestrian traffic and improving accessibility for a quarter of a million daily commuters. This initiative aligns with the DOTr’s broader goal of creating a “commuter-centric” public transport system.

“This is a prime example of the public and private sectors working together to deliver on a shared vision for a better commute,” said DOTr Secretary Vivencio Dizon. “We are grateful to our private partner for their support and to the motorists and the public for their patience as we build this vital infrastructure.”

To facilitate the construction, temporary lane closures are in effect on EDSA from 1 AM to 4 AM until October 18, 2025. Motorists are advised to plan their trips accordingly. The EDSA Busway remains operational 24/7 to ensure public transport services are not disrupted.
