In a significant step to elevate the Philippines’ reputation as a premier sports tourism destination, the Department of Tourism (DOT) successfully trained 186 event volunteers for the upcoming 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship. The training, conducted on Monday, August 17, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, was designed to equip volunteers with the skills needed to provide world-class hospitality to both local and international visitors.
The initiative is a key part of the Marcos Administration’s push to advance sports tourism and is spearheaded by the DOT’s Office of Human Capital Development. The volunteers were trained under the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence (FBSE) program, a flagship initiative of Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco. The program’s curriculum focuses on instilling core Filipino values and enhancing customer service and communication skills.
“Our goal is to ensure every visitor experiences the warmth and genuine care that our country is known for,” said Secretary Frasco. “By training our volunteers in the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence, we are not only preparing for a major international event but also solidifying our commitment to a service culture that is uniquely Filipino.”
Since its expansion under Secretary Frasco’s leadership, the FBSE program has trained over 332,300 tourism frontliners nationwide as of August 14. This widespread training effort highlights the DOT’s dedication to enhancing the overall visitor experience and promoting the Philippines as a top destination for both leisure and major sporting events.
