Responding to the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. during his recent State of the Nation Address (SONA), the Department of Transportation (DOTr) today officially announced the relaunch of the “Love Bus” program, offering free public transportation to commuters. The initial phase of the program is now operational in the major cities of Cebu and Davao.
The initiative aims to provide accessible and comfortable rides, specifically targeting daily commuters, including students and workers, who face significant travel challenges. By reintroducing the Love Bus, the DOTr seeks to ease the financial and logistical burdens on the public, ensuring a more convenient and efficient travel experience.
“The President’s vision is clear: to prioritize the welfare of our countrymen by providing tangible solutions to their everyday needs,” said DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon.
“The Love Bus is a direct response to this call, and we are proud to offer this free service to the people of Cebu and Davao. This is a testament to our commitment to building a more compassionate and responsive transportation system for all Filipinos.”
Following its successful rollout in these two key areas, the DOTr has laid out plans for the program’s nationwide expansion. The department is actively identifying other high-traffic urban and provincial centers across the country to deploy additional Love Bus units to reach as many citizens as possible. The expansion will be a phased approach, ensuring that service quality and reliability remain the highest priority.
The return of the Love Bus is a significant step towards a more inclusive and accessible public transport system. The DOTr encourages all eligible passengers to take advantage of this new service and experience a more pleasant commute.
