European business leaders to convene in Manila to explore Philippines’ growing economic prominence

The European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) and the EU-ASEAN Business Council (EU-ABC) will host the 2025 European-Philippine Business Dialogue (EPBD) & European Investors’ Night, a flagship event aimed at strengthening trade and investment ties between Europe and the Philippines. Held under the theme “Keeping the Philippine Centrestage,” the event will bring together top business leaders to discuss the country’s pivotal role as an investment destination in Southeast Asia.

A Pivotal Moment for Philippine-European Relations

With negotiations for the European Union-Philippines Free Trade Agreement gaining momentum, the Philippines is poised to deepen its economic partnership with Europe. The country’s economy demonstrated strong growth in 2024, outpacing key regional neighbors like Malaysia and Thailand. This growth is underpinned by a young, highly skilled workforce, a rapidly expanding middle class, and a strategic location within one of the world’s most dynamic regions.

Reforms Attracting Global Investment

The dialogue will highlight the Philippines’ robust economic strengths and ongoing policy reforms designed to attract foreign investment. The CREATE MORE Act offers enhanced fiscal incentives, while the new Public-Private Partnership Code and the Build Better More Program are modernizing critical infrastructure. The government has also liberalized key sectors, including allowing full foreign ownership in renewable energy, and has streamlined business processes through initiatives like Green Lanes for Strategic Investments and the Ease of Paying Taxes Act. These measures collectively make the Philippines a more competitive and attractive market for international investors.

Dialogue to Unlock New Opportunities

The 2025 EPBD will serve as a dynamic platform for exploring how the Philippines can further enhance its global economic competitiveness. Discussions will focus on strategies to deepen economic ties with Europe and the broader ASEAN region, unlocking new trade and investment opportunities in high-growth sectors. This collaboration between the ECCP and the EU-ABC underscores the shared commitment to fostering a prosperous and interconnected business environment.
