PAL adds special flights for Borongan’s Padul-ong Festival

To accommodate a surge of travelers heading to the annual Padul-ong Festival, Philippine Airlines (PAL) is adding special flights between Cebu and Borongan, Eastern Samar, on September 4 and 9.

These additional services were arranged in partnership with the Borongan local government to support the city’s celebrated festival, held annually in honor of its patroness, Nuestra Señora dela Natividad. The special flights will supplement PAL’s regular thrice-weekly service on this route and offer convenient connections for travelers coming from Manila and other domestic points.

“It is our pleasure to forge this partnership with the Borongan LGU to address the need for additional flights in view of the influx of travelers attending the festivities,” said PAL Express President Rabbi Vincent Ang.

The flight schedule for the special services is as follows:

  • Flight PR2651: Departs Cebu (CEB) at 11:10 a.m. and arrives in Borongan (BOR) at 12:05 p.m.
  • Flight PR2652: Departs Borongan (BOR) at 12:30 p.m. and arrives in Cebu (CEB) at 1:20 p.m.

Visitors attending the festival can also take advantage of the additional flights to explore Eastern Samar’s diverse tourist attractions, which include stunning beaches, unique rock formations, and historical sites. Noteworthy spots include:

  • Binogawan Beach: Known for its smooth sand and clear water.
  • Canhugas Nature Park: Famous for its distinctive rock formations.
  • Calicoan Island: A popular destination for surfing enthusiasts.
  • Gindu Yanan Cove: Features a natural arch and unique rock formations.
  • Balangiga Bells: A significant historical site.

The Padul-ong Festival, which culminates in the feast day of Nuestra Señora dela Natividad on September 8, draws tourists and devotees from across the country.
