The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) announced a landmark agreement to enhance the monitoring and evaluation of major transportation projects through an innovative, technology-driven citizen reporting mechanism. This initiative, named the Digital Information for Monitoring and Evaluation (DIME) Project, aligns with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to involve public participation in government oversight.
The DIME Project aims to ensure that large-scale infrastructure projects directly benefit the Filipino people. By leveraging modern technology, the system will provide a platform for citizens to contribute to project monitoring, thereby fostering greater transparency and accountability.
“The President has made it clear that our projects must serve our citizens. This system, developed with our partners in the academe, will be instrumental in making sure that government projects reach and benefit Filipinos,” said Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon.
The DIME Project will utilize a variety of modern tools, including satellites, drones, and geotagging, to track the status of big-ticket infrastructure projects. It will also establish an efficient, technology-enabled system for public validation and reporting.
Under the signed agreement, the DOTr will provide the DBM with detailed, real-time data on transportation projects, including their location, status, and timelines. The DOTr will also conduct geospatial mapping and provide reports on environmental and social impact assessments related to these projects.
The collaborative effort underscores the government’s commitment to good governance and effective public service.
