FAST Logistics Group, the Philippines’ leading provider of end-to-end logistics solutions, recently highlighted the essential role of engineering and innovation in advancing the nation’s supply chain industry. Speaking at a symposium for Industrial Engineering students at the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) on Wednesday, August 27, FAST ColdChain Business Unit Head Marc Anthony Dizon underscored how technical expertise is crucial for building a world-class logistics sector.
Dizon’s talk, part of a forum themed “Introduction to Engineering and Tech Entrepreneurship,” encouraged students to see their technical skills as a foundation for entrepreneurial ventures that can create sustainable, scalable solutions. “Technology is no longer an option if we want to become world-class,” Dizon stated. He emphasized that engineers are at the forefront of the rapid changes shaping the industry, driving progress beyond current capabilities.
Engineering as the Backbone of Logistics
During his presentation, Dizon detailed how engineering serves as the backbone of modern logistics, influencing every stage of operations. From designing efficient warehouses and managing complex fleets to developing digital solutions for data-driven decision-making, engineering ensures seamless, responsive, and efficient supply chains.
He also noted that engineering is critical for implementing green logistics practices, which prioritize sustainability, safety, and compliance while reducing costs. According to Dizon, FAST Logistics’ success is built on a deliberate combination of engineering expertise, entrepreneurial vision, and a people-first philosophy. The company’s focus is on simplifying complex processes, making operations faster and more convenient for customers.
“Engineering builds. Entrepreneurship drives. People sustain,” Dizon said, summarizing FAST’s strategic approach.
Calling on the Next Generation
Dizon concluded his address by urging students to view engineering not just as a profession, but as a means of nation-building. He challenged the next generation of engineers to build upon the innovations pioneered by companies like FAST Logistics to push the country forward on the global stage. “We need you. The country needs more of you. Let us show the world that our country is a force to be reckoned with,” he stated.
Dizon’s message was a clear call to action: “We at FAST have planted the seeds. It is your turn to move it forward. Not only for yourselves but also for Filipinos.”
