European business leaders to gather for significant investment discussions

The European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) and the EU-ASEAN Business Council (EU-ABC) are co-hosting the 2025 European-Philippine Business Dialogue (EPBD) & European Investors’ Night to explore strengthening trade and investment ties between the European Union and the Philippines. The flagship event, themed “Keeping the Philippine Centrestage,” will gather prominent business leaders from Europe and Southeast Asia to discuss the Philippines’ growing role as a key investment destination.

A PIVOTAL MOMENT FOR PHILIPPINE-EU ECONOMIC TIES

The dialogue comes as negotiations for a Philippines-European Union Free Trade Agreement (FTA) are gaining momentum. As one of Asia’s fastest-growing economies, the Philippines offers significant opportunities for European businesses.  The country’s strong economic performance in 2024, coupled with its young, highly skilled workforce and expanding middle class, makes it an attractive market.

PHILIPPINES’ IMPROVING BUSINESS CLIMATE

The Philippine government has implemented significant policy reforms to enhance the country’s business environment. Key legislative measures, such as the CREATE MORE Act, offer improved fiscal incentives for investors. The new Public-Private Partnership Code is set to accelerate infrastructure development under the “Build Better More” program. Furthermore, the liberalization of sectors like renewable energy now allows for full foreign ownership, attracting greater foreign direct investment. The government has also streamlined business processes through initiatives like “Green Lanes for Strategic Investments” and the “Ease of Paying Taxes Act”.

DIALOGUE TO UNLOCK NEW OPPORTUNITIES

The 2025 EPBD will serve as a dynamic platform for exploring strategies to deepen economic ties and unlock new trade and investment opportunities. Discussions will focus on the Philippines’ business climate and its potential to enhance economic competitiveness on the global stage. This event underscores the commitment of both the ECCP and the EU-ABC to fostering a robust and mutually beneficial economic partnership between Europe and the Philippines.
