Metro Manila Subway Ortigas Station construction officially underway following presidential directive

Construction on the Metro Manila Subway’s highly anticipated Ortigas Station has officially commenced, following a directive from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to accelerate the project. The start of work, which included the demolition of existing structures, was led by Acting Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez and Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto during a joint inspection today.

The Ortigas Station is poised to significantly benefit thousands of daily commuters working in the bustling Ortigas business district. “Surely a lot of commuters will benefit from this, especially since there are many who work here in the business district of Ortigas,” said Secretary Lopez, emphasizing the project’s importance to the area’s workforce.

Secretary Lopez confirmed that the station is expected to be completed within three years, with an additional two years for it to become fully operational. He extended his gratitude to Mayor Sotto for his assistance in expediting the project, stating, “We are grateful to Mayor Vico for the help to accelerate the construction of the project because it is very important to the commuters.”

Mayor Sotto echoed this sentiment, thanking both former Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon and Acting Secretary Lopez for their efforts. “Construction here is continuing. Demolition will start, no more major roadblocks,” Mayor Sotto stated, assuring that the project is moving forward smoothly.

This collaborative effort between the national and local governments marks a significant milestone in the country’s transportation infrastructure development, aiming to provide a modern and efficient solution to Metro Manila’s traffic congestion.
