Diata urges businesses to “Design for Adaptability” amidst global supply chain shifts

Program Manager Ian Diata from Dyson delivered a powerful keynote highlighting the urgent need for Filipino businesses to build resilience into their operations.

Under the theme “Designing Resilience: Global Trends, Local Strategies,” Diata’s address underscored how unprecedented global events—from trade policy shifts to changing consumer behaviors—are fundamentally reshaping supply chains worldwide.

Diata’s presentation challenged the traditional focus on efficiency alone, arguing that a “Quality by Design” mindset is essential for survival and growth. He emphasized that this approach isn’t limited to product development but should be a core principle for building robust, agile supply chains. This strategic shift requires businesses to proactively embed quality and adaptability from the very beginning of their design processes.

“In a world of constant change, Filipino enterprises must design for adaptability, not just efficiency,” Diata stated. He outlined three key strategies for achieving this:

Embed quality from the start: Integrating robust quality control and standards at the initial stages of the supply chain.

Co-develop with suppliers: Fostering collaborative partnerships with suppliers to create a more integrated and responsive network.

Simulate disruptions before they happen: Proactively stress-testing supply chain models to identify and mitigate potential weaknesses.

The insights from Diata’s talk resonated with the symposium’s attendees, sparking discussions on how local businesses can adopt these global best practices.

The conversation focused on a new paradigm of “Agile Bayanihan,” which merges the Filipino spirit of communal cooperation with modern agile methodologies to create a more resilient and responsive economic ecosystem.

LogiSYM Philippines 2025 continues to be a pivotal platform for industry leaders to share innovative strategies and foster dialogue on the future of logistics in the region.
