DTI: Prices of Noche Buena items steady, no price hike petition for basic goods

Prices of Noche Buena products and basic necessities and prime commodities (BNPCs) remained steady and there has been no petition for price hike on basic goods, Trade and Industry Secretary Cristina Roque said.

“The last prices set by the DTI still apply and being followed by manufacturers and consumers can still avail of the same prices,” said Roque.

Likewise, prices on basic goods or the BNPCs are still the same since the DTI released the last prices for over a year already.

In addition, Roque said there has been no petition for price adjustment from any of the  basic goods manufacturers.

Roque added that the DTI continues to monitor and check on the prices of BNPCs.

Noche Buena items are food and food ingredients normally used by Filipino households to prepare dishes for the Christmas Eve celebration. Prices of these products historically rise during the Christmas season.

The list of Noche Buena items include ham, queso de bola, fruit cocktail, cheese, sandwich spread, all-purpose cream, mayonnaise, pasta noodles, elbow and salad macaroni, tomato, and spaghetti sauce
