Cebu Pacific wins double honors at 2025 ESGBusiness Awards for sustainability and inclusivity

Cebu Pacific (CEB), the Philippines’ leading low-cost carrier, has received two prestigious international recognitions at the 2025 ESGBusiness Awards in Malaysia: Sustainable Transportation and Diversity & Inclusion. The dual victory cements the airline’s position among Asia’s top companies for excellence in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices.

The ESGBusiness Awards is a premier regional platform that honors organizations setting new benchmarks in corporate social responsibility, sustainable growth, and diversity.

“This international recognition is a powerful validation of our belief that affordable travel and responsible growth must go hand-in-hand,” said Candice Iyog, CEB Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer. “As Cebu Pacific continues to expand, we are committed to ensuring our operations create a positive impact for our people and the planet. Inclusivity and sustainability remain central to how we shape the future of travel.”

Cebu Pacific was recognized for its long-term strategy to decarbonize its operations, driven primarily by a commitment to fleet modernization and fuel efficiency.

Lowest Carbon Intensity: CEB achieved one of the industry’s lowest carbon intensities, recording 62.4 grams of CO2 per Available Seat Kilometer (ASK) in 2024, placing the airline at 18th among global carriers in the Cirium Flight Emissions Review 2024.

Fuel-Efficient Fleet: The airline operates one of the youngest fleets in Asia, with 52% comprised of fuel-efficient New Engine Option (NEO) aircraft. In 2024 alone, this modern fleet helped save nearly 50 million kilograms of fuel and avoided over 150,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions.

Pioneering Finance: CEB is the only low-cost carrier (LCC) in Southeast Asia to secure a sustainability-linked loan (SLL), directly tying its financial terms to ambitious emission-reduction goals.

“Sustainability is integral to our growth strategy,” commented Aileen Isidro, CEB Vice President for Corporate Strategy and Risk Officer. “By consistently investing in next-generation aircraft and fuel-efficient practices, we ensure our expansion is both competitive and future-ready.”

The Diversity & Inclusion award celebrates Cebu Pacific’s commitment to fostering a truly inclusive and equitable workplace.

Inclusive Policies: CEB has a comprehensive Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Policy that prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression.

Workplace Inclusivity: The airline was the first in Southeast Asia to receive the prestigious Great Place to Work® certification in 2024 and was among the first in the region to hire openly transgender cabin crew.

Expanded Benefits: Inclusivity extends to employee benefits, with the airline expanding its healthcare and travel privileges to officially recognize same-sex and common-law partners.

Empowerment Programs: CEB surpasses global benchmarks for women in leadership and actively runs internship programs for neurodiverse students, demonstrating a commitment to talent from all backgrounds.

Felix Lopez, CEB Chief Human Resources Officer, shared, “Our workforce—spanning 31 nationalities, 15 employee groups, and people of all genders, faiths, and abilities—enables Cebu Pacific to adapt, grow, and deliver for our customers. This recognition belongs to our teammates who support and uplift one another. At Cebu Pacific, we don’t just move people; we move progress.”

Cebu Pacific remains dedicated to its mission of providing safe, affordable, and accessible flights for “Every Juan,” ensuring that this growth is balanced with profound responsibility to its people and the environment.
