Antique Airport unveils modern, expanded terminal to elevate passenger experience

The Antique Airport is set to open its doors to a dramatically enhanced travel experience with the forthcoming inauguration of its new Passenger Terminal Building (PTB). This significant upgrade is a direct response to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to modernize and enhance regional airports across the Philippines, ensuring world-class service for all passengers.

The new terminal boasts a massive 2,224 square meter facility, multiplying the airport’s capacity more than threefold. It will be able to comfortably serve more than 300 passengers, a crucial improvement from the previous capacity of just 64.

The modern terminal is designed with passenger comfort and accessibility as top priorities, featuring:

Wider departure and arrival areas.

New check-in counters for faster processing.

Updated and complete restroom facilities.

A dedicated nursing and breastfeeding room.

Comprehensive facilities and accessibility features for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).

The inauguration of the new Antique Airport PTB is planned for this year, thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Department of Transportation (DOTr), with the vital support of Senator Loren Legarda and Congressman Antonio Agapito Legarda.

Acting Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez praised the project, stating, “This should be the benchmark of all regional airport improvements across the country. Ganito dapat ang standards sa lahat, maluwag, kumpleto ang facilities sa mga pasahero at accessible sa lahat lalo na sa persons with disabilities (This should be the standard for all, spacious, complete facilities for passengers, and accessible to everyone, especially persons with disabilities).”

This modernization effort is expected to not only significantly improve the quality of air travel for residents and visitors to Antique but also to serve as a catalyst for local economic development and tourism.
