The residential cruise ship Villa Vie MV Odyssey has extended its call at the Port of Cebu, a decision driven by the unique needs and desires of its long-term resident-passengers. The ship, which operates on a model distinctly different from traditional cruising, is prioritizing an in-depth, relaxed exploration of the region over a rushed itinerary.
Captain Valentin Giuglea, Master of the Odyssey, emphasized the ship’s philosophy in a recent statement:
“Our ship is a residential cruise ship—it’s not a regular cruise ship. The passengers own the cabins, and we aim to give them the time to truly explore. It’s not about the usual rush—arriving in the morning, five o’clock, let’s go to the next port.”
“We have been informed that there are a lot of fantastic attractions here in Cebu, including tours that start early morning and last for 11 or 12 hours. That’s why we want to give everybody the possibility to fully enjoy them without feeling pressured. Thank you very much once again for being able to extend our stay in Cebu.”
The extension is a direct reflection of the ship’s commitment to its residents, allowing them ample opportunity to participate in full-day excursions and immerse themselves in the rich cultural and historical offerings of Cebu and the surrounding islands. Unlike the fleeting visits typical of conventional cruise lines, Villa Vie Residences aims to provide a slower, more meaningful travel experience for its community of global explorers.
This extended stay is expected to provide a significant boost to local tourism operators, guides, and businesses in Cebu, as residents have more time to spend on ground tours, dining, and shopping.
