The Philippines has cemented its position as one of the world’s most sought-after destinations, achieving nine World category nominations at the prestigious 32nd World Travel Awards (WTA). This significant recognition follows the country’s recent triumphs at the Asia-level and places the Philippines firmly on the global tourism stage.
Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco welcomed the nominations, calling them both a great honor and an inspiration for collective action.
“Tourism continues to bring good news for the Philippines, not only through international recognition, but through the livelihoods and jobs it sustains for millions of Filipinos,” said Secretary Frasco. “These nominations reflect the strength of our people’s hospitality, creativity, and resilience, and the world’s continued confidence in the Philippines as a destination of beauty and hope. We take these recognitions as a shared encouragement to keep building up our country together.”
The Secretary emphasized that tourism remains one of the nation’s strongest engines of hope, creating opportunities and uplifting communities across the islands, and invited everyone to participate in the voting process.
The Philippines is nominated across three country categories, five destination-specific categories, and one for the tourist board. Key nominations include:
