Fusion: The music festival honors Cebuano talent, unity, and community support

Fusion: The Philippine Music Festival returned to the Queen City of the South for its second annual Cebu edition, transforming SM Seaside Cebu into a powerful showcase of Original Pilipino Music (OPM), local pride, and community spirit. The festival emphasized unity and celebrated Cebuano world-class talent, both on and off the stage, while raising funds for local disaster recovery efforts.

True to its promise as a “festival for Cebuanos, by Cebuanos,” Fusion Cebu was mounted entirely through local collaboration. The entire production—from show direction, stage building, and set design to safety, security, and operations—was handled by Cebuano partners, underscoring the city’s deep well of world-class creative and technical expertise.

The musical lineup lived up to the spirit of collaboration, bringing together diverse genres and generations. Headliners Urbandub, Kai Montinola, and Rain Celmar shared the stage with national favorites like Cup of Joe and Al James. The celebration was further amplified by vibrant performances from local Cebuano artists, including Ferdie Aragon and Jimmy Ricks, alongside captivating dance numbers by Sugbo Brawta and artists from the Karaoke World Championships Visayas.

Beyond the music, Fusion reaffirmed its commitment to the community. With Cebu continuing its recovery efforts from recent natural disasters, Fusion partnered with MBC Operation Tulong to extend a crucial helping hand, committing a portion of the event’s ticket sales to local recovery and relief. The festival also launched the Fusion Care Kits initiative, encouraging festivalgoers to bring hygiene kits or food packs to the venue, with each donation contributing to the community drive.

“Fusion has always been more than a concert; it’s about uniting as one and celebrating the resilience and creativity of the Filipino people,” said a festival representative. “The overwhelming support from the Cebuano community proves that when we come together, we are stronger.”
