AirAsia Philippines launches new kid-friendly Santan meals to cater to soaring family travel

AirAsia Philippines is significantly upgrading its in-flight dining experience with the launch of new kid-friendly Santan meals, specifically timed to delight Filipino families traveling during the peak holiday season.

The move comes as the airline observes a dramatic increase in family travel during the fourth quarter. Historically, families account for 19% of total passengers in Q4—a notable surge from just 11% in the earlier months of the year. This trend underscores the powerful influence Filipino family reunions and vacations have on holiday travel demographics.

In direct response to this seasonal demand, AirAsia’s in-flight dining brand, Santan, has introduced two exciting new options:

Baked Macaroni: A classic, familiar comfort food and a guaranteed favorite among Filipino households.

Beef Taco Pizza: A light, flavorful, and convenient snack designed to appeal to both children and adults.

The new meals reflect the airline’s focus on quick, satisfying, and familiar options for short-haul travel.

“As an airline that promotes purposeful journeys, we are happy to see more Filipino families choosing AirAsia to spend meaningful moments together,” said AirAsia Philippines Head of Communications and Corporate Affairs FO Steve Dailisan. “Purposeful travel goes beyond reaching destinations—it’s about ensuring comfort and convenience at every step, including in-flight dining.”

Dailisan noted that the preference for light meals on their mostly short domestic flights (less than 75 minutes) is strong, with 61% of onboard meal purchases coming from guests who choose smaller, convenient meals.

The new Santan meals maintain the brand’s commitment to affordability, with Value Combos starting at ₱150 and Hot Meal Combos at ₱320, available on select domestic flights.

In addition to enhancing the dining experience, AirAsia Philippines encourages guests to book their holiday travel early to secure the best-value fares. With the Civil Aeronautics Board retaining the fuel surcharge rate at Level 4 for November, travelers have an added opportunity to enjoy lower ticket prices for their year-end getaways.
