OTS administrator leads security inspection at PITX ahead of Undas travel rush

The Office for Transportation Security (OTS) completed a thorough security inspection at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX), reinforcing the government’s commitment to ensuring safe, orderly, and efficient public travel, especially in the lead-up to the annual Undas season.

The inspection, conducted under the direct order of President Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos, was led by OTS Administrator Undersecretary Gilberto DC Cruz, assisted by expert auditors from the OTS Land Transportation Security Division (LTSD). The activity forms a crucial part of the ongoing OPLAN Biyaheng Ayos Undas 2025, spearheaded by Department of Transportation (DOTr) Acting Secretary Giovanni Lopez.

Auditors meticulously reviewed critical safety and security protocols, focusing on the strict implementation of security measures for passengers, terminal staff, and public transportation operators. Key areas of review included:

  • Security checkpoints and passenger screening procedures.
  • Functionality of CCTV monitoring systems.
  • Preparedness of incident reporting and response systems.

Usec. Cruz emphasized the importance of this proactive measure. “This type of intensive inspection is essential to maintain public confidence in our transportation systems and facilities,” Usec. Cruz stated. “We want to ensure that every passenger feels secure and safe from the moment they enter the terminal until they have successfully departed.”

The OTS specifically commended PITX’s operational readiness and its continuous efforts to improve facilities in full compliance with national transportation security standards. The OTS will continue its collaboration with various government agencies to maintain the highest levels of service and security across all transportation sectors nationwide.
