PASIA and Philippine Pharma Procurement, Inc. partner to advance supply chain for essential medicines

The Procurement and Supply Institute of Asia (PASIA) announced a significant and strategic partnership exploration with the Philippine Pharma Procurement, Inc. (PPPI), a government-owned and controlled corporation dedicated to providing quality, low-priced essential medicines to the Filipino people.

The collaboration was initiated during a recent, highly productive meeting between PASIA’s Chairman & CEO, Charlie Villasenor, and PPPI’s President and CEO, Undersecretary Maria Blanca Kim Lokin, along with their respective teams.

During the meeting, Mr. Villasenor and the PASIA staff presented the organization’s global best practices and comprehensive programs in procurement and supply chain management. These insights are critical as PPPI continues its mandate to strengthen the country’s pharmaceutical supply chain and support vital national health programs like the provision of free medicines under PhilHealth’s Konsulta program.

The exchange focused on how advanced international programs could be tailored and implemented to enhance efficiency, transparency, and resilience within the national system for procuring and distributing essential drugs.

“We are incredibly grateful for the invitation and the opportunity to collaborate with Usec. Kim Lokin and the entire PPPI team,” said Charlie Villasenor, PASIA Chairman & CEO.

“This partnership aligns perfectly with PASIA’s mission to drive excellence in supply chain and procurement. By sharing our global expertise, we aim to contribute directly to PPPI’s crucial work in ensuring every Filipino has better access to essential, quality medicines.”

Undersecretary Maria Blanca Kim Lokin expressed her appreciation for PASIA’s initiative, noting that the shared goal is to modernize the system. “Advancing our national procurement and supply chain systems is key to improving healthcare access for our citizens. The insights and programs PASIA shared will be invaluable as we work towards creating a more robust, efficient, and equitable drug distribution network in the country,” she stated.

Both organizations look forward to translating this insightful discussion into concrete, impactful initiatives that will ultimately enhance the public health landscape in the Philippines.
