BI mobilizes full force at all international airports for Undas travel surge

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) is mobilizing its full operational force across all international airports nationwide to ensure seamless passenger movement during the upcoming Undas long weekend.

With October 31 declared a special non-working holiday, the Bureau anticipates a significant surge in arriving and departing passengers beginning Friday and extending through the following week. To address this influx, all immigration counters will be fully manned with officers working around the clock.

BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado confirmed the deployment of additional personnel and the implementation of enhanced measures aimed at maintaining efficient service despite the high volume of travelers.

“Our officers will be working round-the-clock to accommodate the influx of passengers during the Undas break,” said Commissioner Viado. “To mitigate potential queuing and ensure travelers do not miss their flights, we strongly advise everyone to arrive at the airport at least three hours before their scheduled departure.”

While the Commissioner assured the public that processing remains manageable, he noted that travelers should anticipate some lines due to the sheer volume. The Bureau also recognized that ongoing airport improvement works might slightly affect movement in certain terminals.

“The Bureau is coordinating closely with airport authorities to ensure that despite construction and facility upgrades, our core immigration services remain uninterrupted,” Viado added. “We ask for the public’s patience and understanding as these improvements are ultimately meant to enhance the overall airport experience for everyone.”

The BI further encouraged travelers to check the official Facebook page at Facebook.com/officialbureauofimmigration for regular updates and photos of current airport operations, allowing passengers to gauge the terminal activity before their trip.

The BI reiterates its commitment to providing secure and efficient service, ensuring both Filipino and foreign travelers experience a smooth and safe journey throughout the holiday period.
