The Batangas Port Authority (BPA) announced the official opening of a new, dedicated Passenger Pedestrian Entrance on Santa Clara Road, directly opposite the New Batangas Passenger Terminal Building (NBPPTB). This strategic infrastructure improvement is set to immediately streamline passenger flow, drastically reduce congestion, and eliminate unauthorized solicitation, commonly known as “fixers,” within the terminal area.
The new facility is designated as the exclusive drop-off and entry point for all travelers arriving by bus. Passengers will now alight from their transport vehicles at this dedicated entrance before proceeding to the NBPPTB to check in for their trips.
This essential change in procedure applies to passengers boarding major inter-island routes, including those destined for Calapan, Romblon, Abra de Ilog, Caticlan (for access to Boracay), and Palawan.
The construction of the new entrance is a core component of the port’s ongoing modernization initiative. The primary objectives are threefold:
Streamlined Passenger Flow: By centralizing the bus drop-off point and creating a dedicated pedestrian lane, the port aims to significantly expedite the processing of thousands of travelers daily, especially during peak holiday seasons.
Enhanced Security and Convenience: The separation of passenger foot traffic from vehicle areas ensures a safer environment and minimizes inconvenience to travelers caused by localized congestion.
Complete Elimination of Unauthorized Solicitors: This controlled, single-entry system ensures that only authorized personnel and ticketed passengers access the terminal, effectively shutting down avenues for fixers and unauthorized vendors to operate near entry points.
“This is a decisive step toward fulfilling our promise of world-class port operations,” said a spokesperson for Batangas Port Authority. “The new Santa Clara Road entrance isn’t just about a faster entry; it’s about establishing a secure, dignified, and orderly experience for every traveler who passes through Batangas Port. By controlling access, we eliminate the elements that have long caused delays and frustration.”
The Batangas Port Authority urges all travelers and bus operators to strictly adhere to the new drop-off and entrance protocols to ensure maximum efficiency and security for all passengers.
