Delta Air Lines unveils major transpacific strategy with non-stop service to Manila and Singapore

Delta Air Lines is launching its most significant Asia expansion in more than a decade, a strategic move to solidify its position in the rapidly growing transpacific market. The expansion introduces new, non-stop service to Singapore (SIN) and Manila (MNL), alongside a major capacity boost for its key hub in Seoul-Incheon (ICN).

This ambitious push will be spearheaded by the introduction of the Airbus A350-1000, Delta’s new flagship aircraft designed for ultra-long-haul routes across the Pacific, offering industry-leading fuel efficiency and an elevated customer experience.

New Ultra-Long-Haul Routes: Delta will introduce direct service to Singapore and Manila, marking a strong return to two key Southeast Asian markets with high demand from U.S. travelers and business partners.

Transpacific Flagship: The Airbus A350-1000 will anchor the new routes, providing superior range, passenger comfort, and a premium cabin configuration that includes Delta One Suites, Delta Premium Select, and a connected travel experience with high-speed Wi-Fi onboard.

Los Angeles (LAX) as West Coast Gateway: Consistent with high demand and strong global connections, Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is expected to lead the launch of the new flights. Secondary service from other key U.S. West Coast hubs, such as Seattle (SEA), is also under consideration.

Strengthening the Korean Air Joint Venture: Delta is significantly bolstering its strategic partnership with Korean Air by planning to increase non-stop flights from both Los Angeles (LAX) and New York (JFK) to Seoul-Incheon (ICN). This move strengthens the combined transpacific network while maintaining key flight control on Delta-operated jets.

“After years of careful, successful growth in Europe, the time is right to leverage our operational strength and our next-generation fleet to truly redefine the transpacific experience,” said a spokesperson for Delta. “The A350-1000 is a game-changer, allowing us to connect the U.S. heartland to key business and leisure destinations in Asia faster, farther, and more efficiently than ever before. We are closing the gap with our competitors and offering a superior, more connected product.”

The new routes, which complement the recently announced return of service to Hong Kong (HKG), clearly signal Delta’s strategy to expand its network aggressively into the vibrant Asia-Pacific region. By deploying the A350-1000, Delta aims to directly challenge competitors who currently rely on other long-haul aircraft for Pacific dominance, focusing on a premium, modern, and high-tech flying experience.
