PPA handles 1.72 million passengers during Undas 2025 operation, maintaining orderly service despite Typhoon Tino

The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) successfully concluded its nationwide “Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Undas 2025,” recording a total of 1.7 million passengers across all ports between October 27 and November 5, 2025.

While the total figure was lower than the projected 2.2 million travelers due to widespread trip cancellations caused by Super Typhoon Tino, the PPA assured the public that all operations remained orderly and highly efficient despite the severe weather disruptions.

PPA General Manager Jay Santiago praised the dedication of the port staff, emphasizing the priority placed on compassionate service for stranded passengers.

“All our port personnel were on full alert during the entire Undas period. Despite the challenges posed by the typhoon, our priority was to provide efficient and compassionate service, especially during peak travel seasons,” said General Manager Santiago. “We are proud that no major operational challenges were recorded other than the direct effects of the typhoon itself.”

PPA personnel were immediately deployed to assist passengers temporarily stranded by the cancellations, providing essential support that included the distribution of Ready-to-Eat Food (RTEF) boxes, assistance with evacuation, and continuous information dissemination through dedicated Help Desks.

The operational success was secured through full manpower deployment across all PPA-managed ports, with staff leaves suspended during the critical holiday period. Furthermore, continuous coordination with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) was maintained to guarantee passenger safety. All ports remained open and operational to accommodate stranded travelers and resume normal services immediately upon weather improvement.

The ports registering the highest passenger traffic during the operation were:

  • PMO Panay/Guimaras: 300,133
  • PMO Davao: 173,418
  • PMO Batangas: 147,671
  • PMO Bohol: 125,345
  • PMO Negros Oriental/Siquijor: 112,956

This commitment underscores the PPA’s dedication to public safety and service continuity, ensuring reliable port operations even during national holidays and severe weather conditions.
