The Department of Transportation (DOTr) today announced the permanent closure of a section of Tatalon Street in Valenzuela City to both vehicular and pedestrian traffic, effective November 12, 2025. This critical measure is necessary to facilitate the construction of the main Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP) Depot.
The affected portion of Tatalon Street has been legally acquired by the DOTr and is now designated as part of the operational footprint for the MMSP Depot. The Depot is the central maintenance and stabling facility for the subway line, a vital component required for the trains to be maintained and operated once the entire MMSP is fully commissioned.
“We understand that this permanent closure will cause a degree of disruption for our motorists and residents in Valenzuela, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience,” said DOTr Sec. Giovanni Lopez. “However, this step is non-negotiable and absolutely crucial for the MMSP. By integrating this land, we are ensuring the timely completion of the Depot, which is the operational heart of the entire subway system. We ask for the public’s continued patience and cooperation as we build this vital infrastructure that will vastly improve mobility across Metro Manila.”
The DOTr strongly advises all motorists and commuters who previously relied on this section of Tatalon Street to plan alternate routes well in advance.
To assist the public, comprehensive directional signs and detailed traffic advisories will be immediately installed in the surrounding areas. The DOTr and the Valenzuela City Local Government Unit (LGU) traffic management teams will closely monitor the flow of traffic to provide real-time adjustments and guidance to all road users.
The government reiterates its commitment to delivering a fast, efficient, and reliable mass transit system through the MMSP. The public’s understanding during this necessary phase of construction is highly appreciated.
