Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA), under the leadership of District Collector Atty. Yasmin O. Mapa has concluded a highly productive week marked by extensive site inspections, crucial stakeholder meetings, and strengthened enforcement operations across the airport complex.
The week’s activities were strategically designed to reinforce the Bureau’s core mandate: ensuring efficient trade facilitation, maintaining transparency, and securing the nation’s borders against illegal trafficking.
Optimizing Trade Logistics
A key component of the week involved thorough site inspections at vital cargo and logistics facilities. Collector Mapa and her team visited the operational hubs of major partners, including DHL Express Philippines, Cargohaus, Philippine Airlines (PAL), and People’s Air Cargo and Warehousing.
These on-ground assessments aimed to identify bottlenecks, streamline procedural compliance, and ensure that BOC systems are fully integrated and optimized for faster movement of legitimate goods. This proactive approach underscores the BOC-NAIA’s dedication to supporting supply chain resilience and global trade competitiveness.
Strengthening Public-Private Collaboration
In addition to operational visits, the District Office hosted courtesy calls from essential stakeholders, including representatives from Central Airlines, Flight Axis, and other allied government and private sector offices. These engagements focused on solidifying partnerships and fostering a transparent environment for resolving operational challenges collaboratively.
“The integrity of our port is non-negotiable, and collaboration is the bedrock of our success,” stated District Collector Mapa. “Our activities this week underscore our commitment to both seamless trade facilitation and robust border protection. By proactively engaging with our partners, we ensure that compliance and efficiency go hand-in-hand.”
Enhanced Border Security and Enforcement
In a critical move to enhance border security, the BOC-NAIA team conducted parcel sampling at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC). This targeted operation focused on items flagged as potential threats, specifically those suspected of containing illicit drugs. These enforcement activities are part of a continuous effort to detect and prevent the entry of prohibited substances, significantly strengthening the airport’s anti-narcotics monitoring capabilities.
The Bureau of Customs-NAIA remains steadfast in its dedication to serving the public with efficiency and integrity, continuously working with its stakeholders to uphold the laws and support the economic recovery of the Philippines.
