The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) today announced the temporary suspension of all airport operations across its Area V jurisdiction, primarily covering the Bicol region, due to the severe and ongoing impact of Typhoon “Uwan.”
The suspension is a precautionary measure implemented to ensure the safety of passengers, airport personnel, and critical facilities during the weather disturbance.
The mandated closure, issued via a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), began at 4:00 AM and is currently scheduled to remain in effect until 8:00 PM today, November 9, 2025. This duration is subject to immediate extension depending on continuous on-site safety assessments and prevailing weather conditions.
Affected Airports
The suspension applies to all CAAP-operated airports under Area V, including:
- Bicol International Airport (BIA), Daraga, Albay
- Naga Airport, Camarines Sur
- Virac Airport, Catanduanes
- Masbate Airport, Masbate
- Daet Airport, Camarines Norte
- Bulan Airport, Sorsogon
- Bacon Airport, Sorsogon
Advisory for Passengers
All flights to and from these seven airports have been canceled or diverted. Affected passengers are strongly urged to coordinate directly with their respective airlines for immediate updates on flight schedules, rebooking procedures, and other travel concerns.
Airport management is actively providing support, including meals and temporary accommodation, for passengers currently stranded at the affected facilities and will continue to do so until normal operations safely resume.
Commitment to Safety
All other CAAP-operated airports outside Area V remain fully operational at this time. CAAP assures the public that it remains fully committed to ensuring the safety and welfare of all passengers and personnel during this weather disturbance and will issue further advisories as conditions change.
Stay safe, stay informed, and follow official CAAP channels for the latest operational updates.
