Following the official launch of Google Pay in the Philippines, GCash, the country’s leading cashless ecosystem, today announced its full integration with Google’s secure and widely accepted payment system. The integration was celebrated at the Google Pay Philippines launch event, which brought together key industry leaders, including Ren-Ren Reyes, President and CEO of GCash mobile wallet operator G-Xchange, Inc., alongside representatives from the FintechAlliance.Ph, Visa, and officials from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).
The initial rollout of the integration is now available to select GCash users, with wider availability expected soon. By combining the unmatched local scale and trust of GCash with Google Pay’s global infrastructure, this partnership is set to redefine how users engage with digital and physical commerce.
Linking a GCash account to Google Pay is simple:
Download the Google Wallet App from the Google Play Store.
Open the GCash app, tap on Profile, and navigate to My Linked Accounts.
Select Google Pay.
Review the information, agree to bind, and proceed with biometric verification.
Follow the prompt to sign in to the Google Pay app to complete the setup.
Once activated, users can easily select GCash as a fund source for various Google Pay transactions. A significant benefit of this integration is the enhanced security, which eliminates the need for manual card entry and avoids storing or sharing card numbers with merchants.
