DMW and Malacañang Palace honor outstanding Overseas Filipino Workers at 2025 Bagong Bayani Awards

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), under the leadership of Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac, recognized and honored the nation’s most exemplary Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) at the 2025 New Bayani Awards (Bagong Bayani Awards) ceremony held at Malacañang Palace. The event was held in full support of the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

The awards program, spearheaded by the Ang Bagong Bayani Foundation, Inc. (ABBF), serves as the premier platform to acknowledge the profound sacrifices and invaluable contributions of OFWs not just to their immediate families, but also to local communities and the entire Philippine nation.

DMW Secretary Cacdac highlighted the extraordinary character of the awardees in his keynote address.

“Our awardees embody the very best of who we are: resilient, compassionate, hardworking, and committed to making a positive difference wherever they go,” said Secretary Cacdac. “Their stories inspire us, reminding us that service and sacrifice can transform lives and communities far beyond our shores.”

The Secretary also extended his gratitude to the DMW’s various government partners, private sector organizations, and advocates for OFW rights and welfare.

“Your support and concern are what truly strengthen our programs and open up more opportunities for our countrymen,” he added.

The DMW and the government, under the leadership of President Marcos, fully support steps to continually give greater importance to the contributions of these “New Heroes” to society, ensuring their sacrifices are appropriately recognized and uplifted.
