Converge CEO named Businessman of the Year by Esquire PH

Leading fiber broadband and technology provider Converge ICT Solutions, Inc. CEO and Co-Founder Dennis Anthony Uy has been recognized as Businessman of the Year at Esquire Philippines’ Man at His Best Awards 2025. The award highlights Uy’s visionary leadership and his unwavering commitment to expanding digital access across the Philippines.

Speaking at the awarding ceremony held on Tuesday, November 18, Uy shared, “I don’t really see myself as a businessman. I’ve always been someone passionate about technology and how it can improve lives. As we look to the future, our work at Converge continues as we evolve into a technology company. We will keep using technology for good and ensure that no Filipino is left behind in this digital age.”

“To my fellow entrepreneurs, may we keep going hand in hand in building a connected and digitally empowered country,” he added.

Esquire Philippines, one of the country’s leading publications, annually celebrates Man at His Best, the local iteration of the global signature event, honoring extraordinary Filipinos. While last year’s awards recognized those defining the present, the 2025 edition honors individuals shaping the future, dubbed the Architects of Tomorrow, or visionary men and women advancing society through innovation, leadership, and creativity.

Uy joined an impressive roster of leaders and trailblazers in music, arts, politics, and culture.  Other honorees were Lav Diaz (Creative of the Year), Philippine Senator Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino (Maverick of the Year), Jericho Rosales (Actor of the Year), Butch Dalisay (Icon of the Year), Glenda Gloria (Journalist of the Year), IV of Spades (Music Artist of the Year), and Jorge Mendez (Chef of the Year).

Under Uy’s guidance, Converge has driven the fiber-to-the-home revolution in the Philippines, establishing one of the largest and fastest fixed broadband networks in the country. He has championed the principle that internet access is not a privilege, but a right for every Filipino, a mission that has guided the company’s rapid expansion and efforts to bridge the digital divide.

Uy’s leadership has earned him multiple national and international accolades. He was recognized by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) with the Country Mover Award in 2024 for his contributions to national digitalization and he also  represented the Philippines at the EY World Entrepreneur of the Year Awards in 2023 as he was named Entrepreneur of the Year and Master Entrepreneur by EY Philippines the year prior.

This 2025, Uy took helm of the PCCI’s 51st Philippine Business Conference and Expo, infusing the biggest event of the business community with a fresh perspective anchored on technology and innovation. Global tech giants the likes of Foxconn and Naver – collaborators of Converge – addressed the Philippine business community.

Today, Converge serves nearly 2.93 million residential subscribers and operates over 888,000 kilometers of fiber optic infrastructure nationwide, making it one of the most extensive fiber networks in the Philippines.

“I share this award with those who stand with me every day — especially my employees, partners, and customers. I’m here today because they helped me, and they were the backbone of my success,” said Uy.

“Through Converge, I’m trying to bring down Internet costs and continue to disrupt the industry. I’m the first one to offer prepaid fiber connection — we started at only 700 pesos. But that’s still expensive. We need to find a way to make every Filipino connected because this is a basic requirement for digital transformation. Without connectivity, we cannot transform at all,”said Uy during his speech, delivered during the Man at His Best Awarding at EDSA Shangri-La Manila.

This year, Converge has embarked on its evolution beyond broadband into a full-fledged technology company, aiming to deliver more innovative solutions and value-added services to drive a digitally inclusive future.

With its techco transition in full swing, Uy commits on ensuring high-speed, reliable, and affordable internet for all Filipinos, while exploring new ways technology can transform businesses and industries across the country.
