In a proactive move to address the anticipated surge in air travel during the forthcoming Christmas season, the nation’s key airport security entities convened on Monday, November 24, 2025, to harmonize operational protocols aimed at dramatically improving the overall passenger experience at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) terminals.
The Office for Transportation Security (OTS), led by Undersecretary Gilberto Cruz, the New NAIA Infrastructure Corp. (NNIC) Security Department, and the PNP Aviation Security Group (PNP AVSEGROUP) participated in the initial high-level coordination meeting.
The agenda centered on two critical operational areas that directly impact traveler flow and satisfaction:
- Streamlining the handling procedures for confiscated Security Prohibited Items (SPIs) at security screening checkpoints.
- Establishing an improved, more efficient process for the retrieval and return of items inadvertently left behind by passengers (LBIs).
OTS Undersecretary Cruz underscored the importance of the collaborative initiative during the meeting. “As we prepare for the biggest travel season of the year, it is crucial that we don’t just meet standards, but that we go the extra mile to ensure passenger satisfaction during their entire journey,” said Usec. Cruz.
Through the consolidated efforts of the OTS, NNIC, and PNP AVSEGROUP, airport passengers at NAIA can expect a better and more efficient public service delivery in the coming days. This initiative directly supports the directive of President Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos Jr. to ensure a safe, secure, and comfortable travel experience for all Filipinos utilizing the nation’s premier gateway.
