President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. inaugurated the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Transparency Portal, an innovative digital platform aimed at ending corruption and strengthening public trust by providing citizens with unprecedented access to government infrastructure projects.
The President emphasized the critical need for complete public visibility in government transactions, calling transparency essential for true accountability.
“One of the most important things that has come out of all the investigations, in all the events, is that we have lost transparency. People don’t see what is really happening inside the government,” President Marcos Jr. stated during the launch event.
The newly launched DPWH Transparency Portal (https://transparency.dpwh.gov.ph) empowers every Filipino to monitor and report on infrastructure projects across the nation, fostering a new culture of civic oversight.
The portal serves as a comprehensive hub for project information, ensuring all details are readily accessible:
- Detailed Project Information: Citizens can view procurement details and processes, project budgets, and location data, including map views and exact project coordinates.
- Live Monitoring: Ongoing procurement activities can be watched in real-time using livestream options available directly on the portal.
- Progress Verification: The progress of each project is verifiable through geotagged photos and satellite imagery, utilizing data provided by the Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA).
- Accessibility: The information is structured and delivered with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to ensure it is complete and easily digestible for the average Filipino user.
President Marcos Jr. pointedly described the DPWH Transparency Portal as a “wall against corruption,” designed to reinforce the belief of Filipinos that their government operates openly and listens to public concerns.
He issued a direct challenge and assurance to the public: “We will make sure that if something is found wrong or illegal, we will take action immediately. That’s why I keep saying, to all our fellow Filipinos, don’t think twice—if you have something to report, report it.”
The launch of the DPWH Transparency Portal marks a significant step in the administration’s commitment to good governance, leveraging technology to ensure public funds are used efficiently and honestly.
