Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) Secretary Arsenio M. Balisacan today delivered the closing remarks at the 2025 Philippine Education Conference, emphasizing the crucial role of education as the foundation for the nation’s human capital development and long-term vision.
Speaking at the SMX Convention Center, the nation’s chief economist underscored that education is key to empowering Filipinos with the knowledge, skills, confidence, and resilience required to contribute meaningfully to national progress.
Secretary Balisacan highlighted that the country’s long-term vision, AmBisyon Natin 2040—aimed at building a nation of smart, innovative, and future-ready citizens—is fundamentally anchored on three key pillars in the education sector:
Strong Mastery of Fundamentals: Ensuring learners have a solid core foundation.
Future-Ready Curriculum: Developing a curriculum that keeps pace with rapidly evolving technologies.
Sustained Support for Teachers: Providing continuous and robust support for the educators who shape the nation’s youth.
The annual conference, organized by the Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC), was themed “Changing the Narrative of Philippine Education by Making Reforms Work.” It successfully gathered a diverse group of educators, policymakers, and sector leaders for intensive discussions on pressing education issues, vital reform initiatives, and the latest trends shaping the Philippine education landscape.
