The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines – Zamboanga International Airport (CAAP-ZIA) completed a Full-Scale Emergency Simulation Exercise today, beginning at 9:00 AM, underscoring its unwavering commitment to aviation safety and crisis preparedness.
The exercise was divided into two critical phases. The first phase, held at the KCC Parking Lot, featured the actual full-scale simulation. This phase showcased the airport community’s unified and timely response to a simulated off-airport emergency scenario.
The drill rigorously tested all essential components of crisis management, including:
-
Command and Control
-
Communication Flow
-
Medical Response
-
Firefighting Operations
-
Security Coordination
-
Passenger Handling
CAAP-ZIA personnel collaborated closely with the Local Government of Zamboanga City and various partner agencies, including emergency responders, law enforcement units, medical teams, and aviation stakeholders, to ensure a synchronized and highly effective response.
The second part of the program, conducted at Cordova Hall, Palacio del Sur, focused on post-activity evaluation. This process included the opening briefing, data gathering, critic observation, an open forum, and the closing briefing.
These sessions were crucial for participants to consolidate insights, evaluate performance, and identify areas for improvement in operational procedures.
The successful execution of the entire exercise highlights the strong commitment of CAAP-ZIA and its partner agencies to continuously strengthen aviation safety, enhance emergency preparedness, and ensure efficient inter-agency coordination for the security of the traveling public.
